The Institute of Musicology at LMU invites you to its grand institute concert on Wednesday, June 10, 2026: Following his acclaimed “Winterreise” last November, Julian Prégardien—arguably the finest Schubert tenor today—returns to the beautiful Große Aula on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, to perform Schubert’s other great song cycle: “Die schöne Müllerin.” This time he will be accompanied by the phenomenal pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout, once again on the institute’s wonderfully resonant over-the-action fortepiano, built in Vienna in 1825 by Nannette Streicher.

Following the two concerts that took place under the title ‘The blind spot’ as part of the Schwetzingen Festival 2025, Julian Prégardien's exploration of the theme of ‘Goethe and women’ continues. After all, Goethe's long and passionate life provides plenty of material for further programmes that look behind the ‘blind spot’ of history and provide a glimpse of important women in Goethe's life and work.
