The chamber concerts given by Niedersächsisches Staatsorchester Hannover are the most personal concerts you can experience. The programmes are put together by the orchestra’s musicians themselves. These include, for example, works that have long been on their wish lists. Some musicians may have played one of the selected works for the first time at the start of their studies – and are now encountering this music again. Another musician may be seeking the challenge of finally venturing to tackle a composition considered ‘difficult’. The motivations are as varied as the personalities in such a large orchestra. The theme of the chamber concerts at the Landesmuseum is: stepping away from the tutti ensemble – and boldly embracing the small ensemble, where every voice remains audible at all times! In this way, chamber music becomes a laboratory of curiosity – personal, immediate, unfiltered.

Conceived for the subdued atmosphere of a small theatre, Sabine Devieilhe reveals herself as never before, accompanied by her two collaborators, Pauline Buet and David Violi. This recital, staged with sensitivity by Laurent Pelly and designed as a tribute to the café-concerts and variety shows, creates an unexpected dialogue between Francis Poulenc and Cora Vaucaire, Erik Satie and Annie Cordy, Stephen Sondheim and Joséphine Baker, as well as Edith Piaf.
