ADRIAN ERÖD makes his house debut at Teatro dell’Opera in Rome

Adrian Eröd first appeared as the music teacher in Richard Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos at the Vienna State Opera in 2024 in Sven-Eric Bechtolf's production, which continues to be performed there. In a co-production with the Semperoper in Dresden, he is now making his house debut in the same role at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, which is presenting Ariadne auf Naxos, a title that has not been on the programme there for more than thirty years. In his production of the work, which premiered in 1916, director David Hermann brings the world of Greek tragedy together with the lightness of French Rococo, staging an opera about opera, fidelity, change and the transformative power of love. The musical direction is in the hands of Maxime Pascal, who has made a name for himself internationally primarily as a leading interpreter of works from the 20th and 21st centuries (Salzburg Festival, Festival d'Aix-en-Provence).
