KATRIN WUNDSAM | Debüt als Magdalene beim Tokyo Spring Festival

In the course of her career to date, the Austrian mezzo-soprano has often demonstrated her artistic changeability and performing diversity. Whether as Hänsel in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel in Berlin, as Maddalena in Verdi's Rigoletto at the Bregenz Festival, as Pilgrim in Kaija Saariaho's L'Amour de loin or as Lola Blau in Georg Kreisler's "One Woman Show" at the Theater an der Wien - Katrin Wundsam always captivates with complete dedication and assimilation of the entrusted roles.

For some time now she has been breaking new ground in terms of repertoire and devoting herself increasingly to the more dramatic repertoire, as she is currently demonstrating in an impressive way as the witch Ježibaba at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden - in a rarely heard combination of roles she also slips into the guise of the Foreign Princess and thus into Rusalka's earthly rival, destroying her quest for fulfilled love twice over. Her upcoming role debut as Magdalene in Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg is another step in this direction, which will take her to the Tokyo Spring Festival for two concert performances under Marek Janowski on 6 and 9 April - ToiToiToi for this further role debut!
