Olivia Vermeulen is a familiar face in Melk, having already performed two solo matinees with the Concentus Musicus under Stefan Gottfried and with the ensemble led by flautist and harpsichordist Max Volbers in recent years.
This year, together with the Hofkapelle München under Rüdiger Lotter, she will perform a moving festival finale under the motto ‘Salve Regina’ with a programme centred around the last third of the life of Saint Mary with works by Giovanni Battista Ferrandini, Claudio Monteverdi, Antonio Vivaldi, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Georg Friedrich Händel and Domenico Scarlatti - in a thematic arc from the mourning mother to the resurrection of the son to the transfiguration of Mary as the bringer of hope to humanity.
