THOMAS QUASTHOFF | AMATIS TRIO | Kafka: A Hunger Artist

Based on Franz Kafka's story "A Hunger Artist", three-time Grammy winner Thomas Quasthoff and the highly acclaimed Amatis Trio go together in search of clues into the first third of the 20th century, uncovering areas of tension in the self-image of artists and at the same time questioning them with the musical help of the Second Viennese School and their contemporaries.

The result is an immersive evening entirely in the spirit of the Kafkaesque dichotomy between artistic urge and the audience's desire for entertainment, inner compulsion and outer superficiality, mutual incomprehension and individual satisfaction - and last but not least between death and life itself.
