CHRISTIANE KARG at the Hohenems Schubertiade

Always an avid recitalist, soprano Christiane Karg appears on three evenings at this year’s Schubertiade in Hohenems. Her solo recital is dedicated to the works of Clara and Robert Schumann, whose cycle Frauenliebe und -leben is among the featured works, and songs by Johannes Brahms. She is accompanied at the piano by Gerold Huber.

One of the last compositions by Franz Schubert will be performed by Christiane Karg together with William Youn and Oliver Schnyder at the piano and clarinettist Alexander Bedenko. Der Hirt auf dem Felsen was written in the autumn of 1828 for the Viennese soprano Anna Pauline Milder-Hauptmann.

Franz Schubert composed not only an abundance of songs for solo voice, but also duets and quartets. The vocal quartet of Christiane Karg, Sophie Rennert, Martin Mitterrutzner and Günther Groissböck presents a selection of these rarely-performed works.
