As part of a three-year Mozart - Da Ponte trilogy by the Bach Collegium Japan under its director Masato Suzuki, the Austrian baritone Christoph Filler can be heard for the first time in the title role of Mozart's Don Giovanni in Tokyo. The four performances with an international and Japanese ensemble of singers - including Yasushi Hirano as Leporello - will take place in the Meguro Persimmon Hall, which seats just under 1,000 people. The scenic design is based on works by the internationally renowned Japanese artist and photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto, who will be at the centre of a parallel exhibition and will also contribute key stylistic elements to the stage design.
