The Australian soprano Eleanor Lyons is not anymore considered an insider tip by "insiders", but has definitely moved into the limelight of a wider public since her recent European tour with Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées under Philippe Herreweghe. The Hamburger Abendblatt wrote of a "vocal miracle", and indeed Eleanor Lyons performs this challenging and difficult solo part so confidently, roundly and with such differentiation that she need not fear any comparison with other renowned interpreters of this part.
In addition to Beethoven's works, Verdi's Requiem is also close to her heart in concert, making her lyrically led soprano shine. Her Australian fans were already able to be present at her eagerly awaited debut at the Adelaide Festival, where Eleanor sang Verdi’s soprano part in the impressive version with the Zurich Ballet choreographed by Christian Spuck. Her European fans still need to wait until 27 March, when she will perform Verdi’s Requiem with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra under Philippe Herreweghe in Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp - don't miss!
