With virtuosity and originality, they started out in barns in Southern Tyrol and have played their way to the world’s leading theatres and concert halls: the fantastic musicians of Franui have had a faithful and adoring audience for more than two decades. Time and again, they astound us with their Alpine-flavoured instrumental versions of classical standard repertoire: cheerful, daring, reverent and highly emotional. For the programme Alles wieder gut, the unconventional “musicbanda” has joined forces with another exceptional artist: bass-baritone Florian Boesch is one of the most adventurous singer-personalities of our times, and together with Franui he undertakes a fascinating journey through the world of Schubert and Schumann, Brahms and Mahler. Together, they have set out to “liberate romantic song, which has been robbed of its naturalness, from its straitjacket”, the Südwest Presse wrote, summarizing its review with the brief and enthusiastic comment: “Great art!”
The ingenious collaboration between Florian Boesch and Franui has now been recorded, and the result is scheduled for release on October 23, 2020 – featuring Franui’s very own arrangements of Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, excerpts from Robert Schumann’s Liederkreis Op. 39, and of course songs by Franz Schubert.
The first single from the CD has recently been released and can be found on all the streaming platforms: In der Fremde by Robert Schumann. A great love drama in under two minutes – click here to listen!
