FLORIAN BOESCH starts the New Year with Schubert and Krenek

Florian Boesch starts the New Year with Schubert's ‘Schöner Müllerin’ together with the Musicbanda Franui. Florian Boesch and puppeteer Nikolaus Habjan have breathed new life into Schubert's famous song cycle at the Berlin State Opera Unter den Linden. This was followed by sold-out performances at the Elbphiharmonie, the Bregenz Festival and the Theater an der Wien. Now Franui's Müllerin, which has been praised by press and audience alike, can be heard for the first time at the Tyrolean Festival in Erl and at the Brucknerhaus Linz.

Extraordinary evenings can also be expected when Florian Boesch presents the impressive song cycle ‘Reisebuch aus den österreichischen Alpen’ by Ernst Krenek together with his long-standing partner at the piano, Malcolm Martineau. This song cycle is a musical diary of a hike through the Austrian Alps, full of melancholy, humour and critical reflections.

‘I am a text singer,’ says Florian Boesch, also referring to Krenek. ‘I'm in my element when a pairing of text and music results in something quite extraordinary. ‘In Krenek's ‘Reisebuch’, this equivalence of text and music is more exceptional than in almost any other song cycle of the 20th century.’
