GEORG NIGL sings Don Alfonso at the Bavarian State Opera

When Georg Nigl was 20 years old, Nikolaus Harnoncourt predicted that he would one day sing a great Don Alfonso. This statement left its mark on him and led to him interpreting the role for the first time just six years later under the musical direction of Thomas Hengelbrock.

He also conducted the new production of Cosi fan tutte in summer 2023 at the festival in Aix-en-Provence under the direction of Dmitri Tschernjakow, where Georg Nigl once again appeared in his signature role. Last year, he also appeared in this production at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris and the Grand Théâtre in Luxembourg.

After recently shining as Gabriel von Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus at the Bavarian State Opera, he can now be seen as Don Alfonso in the revival of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte in the 2022 production directed by Benedict Andrews in May.

Nigl is known for his intense acting ability and the way he embodies characters with psychological depth, so he is sure to put his own stamp on the role in this production.
