GEORG NIGL sings Eisenstein at the Bavarian State Opera

Georg Nigl is one of the most charismatic singers on the international opera scene: his enormous vocal and acting versatility means he is destined for a broad repertoire, a feat he has demonstrated already on countless occasions this year. He started the year 2023 as the menacingly devious Alberich in a concert performance of Wagner's Siegfried conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. At the Vienna State Opera, he was acclaimed in the title role of Monteverdi's Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria, before taking to the stage in Aix-en-Provence as Don Alfonso in a new production of Mozart's Così fan tutte. This was followed in the autumn by the demonic Nekrotzar in Ligeti's Le Grand Macabre: another challenging, and at the same time very striking, stage character in opera literature.

At the end of the year, he showcases his profoundly comic talent with Eisenstein in the new production of Strauss' Die Fledermaus at the Bavarian State Opera. Georg Nigl knows how to handle this Viennese masquerade like no other and audiences are guaranteed an entertaining evening and champagne humour!
