A special evening awaits tenor Jan Petryka and bass David Steffens in the Angelika Kauffmann Hall in Schwarzenberg, Vorarlberg, on 26 August. They are joined by Ilker Arcayürek, Patrick Grahl, Martin Mitterrutzner, Konstantin Krimmel, Andrè Schuen and Andreas Bauer Kanabas to perform a selection of Franz Schubert's polyphonic songs with varied instrumentation, including classics such as Seidl's ‘Nachthelle’ and Grillparzer's ‘Ständchen’.
The ‘dramaturgical’ and thematic highlight at the centre of the evening is undoubtedly the juxtaposition of Schubert's ‘Gesang der Geister über den Wassern’ in the traditionally known version and in a new version published by the New Schubert Edition, which is significantly longer than the well-known version and thus marks a ‘’premiere‘’ at the Schubertiade.
This delightful programme is complemented by a selection of German folk songs by the composer and song collector Friedrich Silcher.
