Jordi Savall's exploration of Bach's works is a constant fixture in the incredibly broad and heterogeneous range of repertoire and cultures that the Catalan conductor has explored over the last six decades. Following his reconstruction of the St Mark Passion in 2019, he is now returning to the oratorio inspired by the Gospel of St John, with which he will be touring Europe before Easter together with the ensembles he founded, Le Concert des Nations and La Capella Reial de Catalunya.
In his first collaboration with Jordi Savall, the Polish-Austrian tenor Jan Petryka will take on the prominent Evangelist role and can be heard with the ensemble at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Philharmonie de Paris, the international arts centre deSingel in Antwerp, the Arena de Genève, the ICE Congress Centre in Krakow and the Konzerthaus Dortmund.
Performing alongside him are Austrian baritone Christoph Filler as the aria bass and Manuel Walser as Jesus.
