KATRIN WUNDSAM makes her role debut of Fricka / Das Rheingold at the Dresden Music Festival

Following her successful Wiesbaden role debut as witch Ježibaba in Dvořá's Rusalka, Austrian mezzo-soprano Katrin Wundsam continues her progressive shift into a more dramatic mezzo repertoire, taking over for the first time the role of Fricka - alongside Mauro Peter as Loge and Ida Aldrian as Wellgunde - in a concert performance of Das Rheingold in Dresden conducted by Kent Nagano. Following on from the "Wagner Readings" initiated in 2018 by Nagano, Concerto Köln and the Kunststiftung NRW, as well as a performance of Das Rheingold in Cologne and Amsterdam, a kind of relaunch and continuation of the project will take place together with the Dresden Festival Orchestra as part of the Dresden Music Festival, with the aim of illuminating and performing the entire "Ring" from a historically informed perspective.

Richard Wagner will remain a constant feature and at the core of Katrin Wundsam's repertoire also in the coming season, when she will appear at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden not only as Fricka in Das Rheingold and Die Walküre, but also as Venus in Tannhäuser.
