In my opinion, Lena Belkina is the ideal bel canto singer, which also gives her the ideal technique for works by George Frideric Handel. She has a beautiful, dark, feminine voice – mysterious and sensuous – which Rossini, Donizetti and Handel would have adored!

Her international breakthrough came with the film version of Rossini’s La Cenerentola, in which Lena Belkina caused a great stir as Angelina.
