MAURO PETER | on tour with Wolf's Italienisches Liederbuch

February is all about the Lied for Mauro Peter!

The Italian Songbook is considered one of the most important song collections of the Romantic period and the highlight of Wolf's late work.  The cycle is based on folk songs from Italy, which were translated into German by Paul Heyse. Many seem like fragments of a conversation between a man and a woman, resulting in a kind of loose plot or emotional progression. Wolf utilises a broad spectrum of moods - from passionate love to mocking jealousy to deep sadness.

Mauro Peter will be taking this song cycle on tour with soprano Louise Alder and pianist Joseph Middleton in February and March. In the UK, they will perform in Cambridge, Leeds and the prestigious Wigmore Hall in London. In between, he will perform Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin together with Akemi Murikami in the LIEDERLEBEN series in Munich.
At the end of the month, three more recitals with the Italiensisches Liederbuch are on the programme at the Frankfurt Opera, the Musikverein Vienna and the LifeVictoria Festival in Barcelona.
