It is not easy to find the right words for Christmas greetings after such a challenging year as 2020. Over the past nine months, the coronavirus crisis has shown us one thing very clearly: that we are vulnerable. Our bodies, our society, our structures, our culture, our way of doing business, our entire way of life – they are all vulnerable. Yet there is hope…
This hope has been manifested in the fact that agencies worked more closely together, fighting together with and for our artists; that presenters sent important signals, standing behind freelance artists, staging concerts and opera performances against all the odds, working out rigid hygiene and prevention plans – all in order to give artists perspectives! Nor did our artists give up, despite the existential threat to their livelihoods – they designed new projects, invented new formats and launched new initiatives to call attention to our sector’s structural problems.
At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Christ – it is a celebration of hope! Keeping this radical hope in our hearts, this hope which drives us to act, solve problems and develop new ideas, we wish you a merry Christmas and a very happy New Year! May this new year be a success, bringing us positive developments once more, and fulfil our hopes for health, happiness, contentment and optimism!

P.S. In order to give a little hope ourselves, we decided not to send out Christmas cards this year, donating our mini Christmas budget to the organization HANGARMUSIK instead. The project HANGARMUSIK – music against misery, initiated by my dear friend Andreas Knapp and viola player Leila Weber, has made it its mission to stabilize children in the refugee camp Vial (on the Greek island of Chios) through joint emergency pedagogy and music, healing the children’s emotional wounds and supporting their re-integration into society. Learn more about HANGARMUSIK here.
Our office is closed from December 23rd, 2020 until January 3rd, 2021. We are back on January 4th, 2021.
