MICHAEL SCHADE sings Idomeneo at the Sydney Opera House

Michael Schade is predestined for this challenging role of the Cretan king by virtue of his outstanding technique and a voice that draws its ornamental lines with dazzling assurance even in extremely high registers.

"For me, Idomeneo is the greatest tenor role of all Mozart operas - here, madness and love go hand in hand."

He celebrated great success in the role at the Theater an der Wien back in 2007, followed by performances at the Vienna State Opera in 2014 and most recently at the Maggio Musicale in Florence in 2017.

This February and March, Mozart's masterpiece with Michael Schade now comes to the programme of Opera Australia in Sydney in a new production by Lindy Hume, which highlights the natural forces at play in the story. The immersive set evokes Australia’s epic seas, skies and rugged coastlines.

We wish everyone involved - toitoitoi!
