OLIVIA VERMEULEN at the Berlin State Opera

After her debut as Turno in Agostino Steffani's L'amor vien dal destino and as Abel in Alessandro Scarlatti's Il Primo Omicidio, Olivia Vermeulen returns to the Berlin State Opera in the double role of Amanzio and Fortuna for a new production of Vivaldi's Il Giustino. René Jacobs once again directs a hand-picked ensemble of singers who trace the turmoil surrounding the rise of the young peasant Giustino to the top of Roman politics, in which not only Byzantine heroines but also bears, sea monsters and voices speaking from tombs have their say.
