OLIVIA VERMEULEN | „Flying Mozart“ with the Rundfunkchor Berlin

‘Flying Mozart’ is an unusual reinterpretation of Mozart's Requiem and combines classical music with urban dance, electronic sounds and visual effects. The performances will take place on 28 and 29 March 2025 at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz and look at the theme of life and death in a language that opens up new, unconventional perspectives.

Under the artistic direction of Gijs Leenaars, Chief Conductor of the Rundfunkchor Berlin, and Vartan Bassil, Creative Director of the dance company Flying Steps, a production will be created that combines Mozart's Requiem with pressing current issues such as war, the climate crisis and social responsibility and brings them into the present day through urban dance art and modern visual elements.

The dramaturgy of the evening unfolds in four acts that show the path from darkness to light, from turmoil to reflection, from guilt to hope - and raise questions such as: How do we deal with individual guilt? How do we find healing and community in a world characterised by war or environmental destruction?

A modern tale of life, death and hope, in which Olivia Vermeulen takes on one of the four solo parts.
