SUMI HWANG at the 2024 Weiwuying International Music Festival

Sumi Hwang has been collaborating with the Korean ensemble TIMF, the musical ambassador of the Tongyeong International Music Festival, in a myriad of constellations and programmes for many years. At the upcoming concert at the National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts as part of this year's Weiwuying International Music Festival, the TIMF ensemble and the exceptional Korean soprano will present a programme that combines absolute music, programme music, opera excerpts and lieder in an all-round wonder, exploring the theme of "love and longing": From Schreker's Chamber Symphony to excerpts from Christian Jost's "Dichterliebe recomposed", to French and Italian opera arias, this cross-genre compilation - spanning a period of almost one hundred years - offers a wide variety of musical expressions of the theme of "romantic love" in its many facets.

The young Korean conductor Hankyeol Yoon, the first winner of the Herbert von Karajan Young Conductors Award 2023, takes to the podium as musical director.
