For almost four decades, Thomas Quasthoff set standards on international concert stages as a singer, reaching and moving innumerable listeners with his art. His decision to leave the classical genre behind, which remains valid, does not, however, mean that fans need to rely on his voluminous discography alone to enjoy his voice. For Thomas Quasthoff is back and has dedicated himself entirely to his great passion for jazz during his comeback.
Given this background, his new CD Nice’n’Easy continues the course of his previous jazz albums. On this current CD, he lends great jazz standards such as the Lennon classic Imagine a deeply personal note, and songs such as Cry me a River and Too Close for Comfort are heard at a new level of relaxed profundity. Quasthoff is supported in this endeavour by a high-carat trio of familiar companions who are also leading protagonists of the German jazz scene.
After concerts at Dresden’s Kulturpalast and Vienna’s Konzerthaus, Thomas Quasthoff and his trio make their debut in Hong Kong and Korea before performing at the festival Heidelberger Frühling at the end of March.
