THOMAS QUASTHOFF receives the Rheingau Musik Prize

The award, initiated by the Rheingau Music Festival, is being presented for the 32nd time this year and is endowed with €10,000. The prize money is provided by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture.

According to the statement by the Rheingau Music Festival: ‘The Rheingau Music Prize 2025 will be awarded to Kammersänger Prof. Thomas Quasthoff, an outstanding artistic personality of our time. For five decades now, he has been shaping the international music world with his unique bass-baritone voice and has set standards with his unrivalled expressiveness and stylistic versatility. His tireless commitment to the Lied and his promotion of young musicians have enriched the genre and inspired generations of artists. After ending his classical singing career, Thomas Quasthoff has impressively demonstrated that there are no genre boundaries for him as a singer. He has opened a new chapter with his love of jazz and continues to inspire audiences with his warm voice, charismatic stage presence and infectious humour. In addition to his artistic endeavours, Thomas Quasthoff impresses with his positive attitude to life and his humanity. He is an artist who touches and moves not only with his voice, but also with his personality. The Rheingau Music Festival awards him the Rheingau Music Prize 2025 in recognition of his life's work and his enduring artistic charisma.

The Rheingau Music Prize will be awarded to Thomas Quasthoff during his concert on 26 August 2025 at 8 pm in the Kurhaus Wiesbaden.
