MICHAEL SCHADE - Recital at the Vienna Konzerthaus

Michael Schade is celebrated as much for his subtle pianos as for his expressiveness. At the Vienna Konzerthaus, he now joins forces with Birgit Minichmayr and Justus Zeyen for an evening that moves between literature and poetry. Strong women are at the centre of the finely tuned musical and literary programme. Ingeborg Bachmann's metaphor of the thunderstorm of roses opens up the broad horizon of relationships, trials and tribulations, the conditionality, unconditionality and fragility of real-life love relationships, in which a murmur can turn into thunder - and vice versa. This evening's programme moves along this spectrum of encounters between men and women in all kinds of love, relationship and social constellations.

Micheal Schade draws on text and music to continuously manage to create emotional vocal peaks with his refined, velvety pianissimo. "A song recital is just as little about 'I sing beautifully and look good' as an opera," explains Michael Schade, "no, it's about: what do I want to say? And why am I saying it at all?"
