WERNER GÜRA looks forward to fascinating concert projects

At the end of August, Werner Güra performed Haydn’s Creation with the Concertgebouworkest under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, at the Lucerne Festival and at Cologne’s Philharmonie. Audiences and reviewers alike were taken with his sonorous, finely honed voice and the conviction he brings to intimate passages.

On October 6 and 7 he makes a guest appearance as a soloist with the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig, taking on the role of the narrator in Schumann’s oratorio Das Paradies und die Peri, also conducted by Philippe Herreweghe. One week later, three performances of Haydn’s Seasons follow at the Festspielhaus St. Pölten and Vienna’s Musikverein, this time with the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria under Ivor Bolton. Afterwards, Werner Güra makes his debut at the Oxford Lieder Festival with a programme of Schubert ballads.

In mid-November, he performs Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He ends the year with Zurich’s Singakademie and Handel’s Messiah, and Bach’s Mass in B-minor with the Orchestre Metropolitain in Montreal under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Werner Güra’s further concert dates and information can be found here.
